What this drill fixes

Fat shots, thin contact, and clipping the turf before the ball all trace back to the same problem: your low point is arriving too early. Low point control drills train you to strike ball-first and deliver the club to the right spot in your swing.   • Low-face strikes increase spin dramatically and risk topped tee shots.
  • We are looking to hit the ball in the centre of the clubface or just above it.
  • Become aware of your tendencies. Sometimes awareness is all we need to change things.
  • Driver should ideally strike on the upswing.

How do I stop hitting fat shots?

Fat shots happen when your low point — the bottom of your swing arc — arrives before the ball. What causes thin shots?
